Copperpot fudge wins gold at Taste of the West Awards

September 12, 2023
We’re proud to share the news that our delicious Cornish Copperpot fudge range has once again picked up a series of awards in the prestigious 2022 Taste of the West awards.

Each hand-broken Copperpot fudge cube is expertly crafted, bringing a classic crumbly texture, combined with a sensationally sweet, award winning taste.

BRINGING HOME THE GOLD MEDALS

As part of the confectionery class this year, the judges awarded Gold to six of our Cornish fudge flavours as a badge of ultimate approval:

  • Copperpot All Butter fudge
  • Copperpot Cappuccino fudge
  • Copperpot Caramel & Sea Salt fudge
  • Copperpot Festive Spiced fudge
  • Copperpot Maple Syrup fudge
  • Copperpot Valencian Orange fudge

Copperpot Clotted Cream fudge was also recognised, bringing home a none-too-shabby silver award.

Alex Baird, Key Account Manager at OV Tenbury Wells: “The Taste of the West awards recognise the very best products in the famously foodie South West region of the UK. We’re extremely proud to once again be recognised at the very highest level against very tough competition.”

The highest-scoring Gold products will now go through to a further round of judging to determine the champion product of each class. A shortlist of contenders will be announced over the summer, and the overall champion winners of each category will be announced at an awards ceremony on 13 September. Watch this space for updates!

Caramel: The Strategic Role of Familiar Flavours in Product Innovation

Caramel has long been a favourite across bakery, ice cream and confectionery, and its appeal shows no signs of fading. Rather than competing through flavour novelty, manufacturers are using caramel, fudge and textured inclusions to create richer food experiences, greater indulgence and stronger shelf appeal. For food manufacturers, the opportunity is no longer simply whether to use caramel, but how to use it. Soft, hard and aerated caramel products, alongside fudge, buttercrocant, honeycomb and caramel inclusions, are transforming familiar products into more premium, sensory-led experiences.
